One of the main challenges for many investors is that it’s difficult to find information. Koyfin is organized so you can quickly find what you’re looking for. There are two main ways to access information. First is the command bar where you can type what you’re looking for. Or the side menu, where you can browse through the sections.
The command bar is a quick way to use shortcuts to find securities and charts instead of navigating through the side menu. Professional terminals such as Bloomberg and Reuters also have shortcut navigation to allow users to move quickly through the system.
The general format is:
"ticker" "function". Example: AAPL G or AAPL Price.
Note that you must hit <enter> on your keyboard to select the first security in the autocomplete field, or select a security with your mouse from the autocomplete dropdown. And you must hit <enter> to select the function from the autocomplete field. You can see a full list of functions here.
Tickers can be US-listed equities, ETFs, mutual funds, FX, futures, bonds or economic series. You can use the asset filter to narrow your search to a particular asset class
Tickers can also be expressed relative to each other with a colon, which divides one stock price by another to show relative performance.
For example, "AAPL:FB G” to show the relative performance of AAPL / FB.
Functions are the names of the chart or analytics available on the Koyfin. You can type the shortcut, for example “G” for price chart. Or search by function name and select it from the list, for example “Price”, “Market Cap” or “P/E”
Once you select a security and function, Koyfin will load the page and highlight it in the menu. For example, if I type “AAPL market cap” Koyfin will load the GF function (Graph Fundamental) and show the chart for AAPL market cap.
- You don’t need to click into the command bar to activate it. You start typing when Koyfin is open, the command bar will automatically be activated.
- Once a security and function are loaded into the system, you can just type the function in the command bar to pull up the next function.
- You can type subcommands like GF.R and GF.mkt

Side Navigation Menu
The side menu makes it easy to click through the various tools on Koyfin. The top of the side menu contains Dashboards organized by asset category like cross-market, equities, fixed income and macro. You can can see a list of the dashboards and their function here. Notice that each dashboard has a shortcut associated with it, like “NOW” for Today’s Markets and “TOP” for Top News. Shortcuts allow users to type the shortcut into the command bar to quickly access the dashboard.
The bottom section of the menu contains tools for individual security analysis like a stock, ETF or currency pair. The selected security remains loaded in Koyfin so you can browse the various charting functions below. For example, in the picture below, the ETF QQQ is loaded so users can quickly browse the tools available for QQQ. You can load a new security by clicking on the security.
